Step 2 · Install it
Add MetLex to the AI you already use.
MetLex is a tool over MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard by which an AI client calls a tool. One URL; no model runs at MetLex. Your assistant calls it and writes the answer from the passages it gets back, with article, link and snapshot date.
Create account
One-time password by email on the account page. Connectors sign in with OAuth; other clients use a key from the same page.
Add it
Sign in to fill in your key.
Settings → Connectors → add custom connector:
https://mcp.metlex.eu/mcp
One command:
claude mcp add --transport http metlex https://mcp.metlex.eu/mcp \
--header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY"
Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others, in the MCP configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"metlex": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.metlex.eu/mcp",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY" }
}
}
}
Ask
Your AI cites the passage and links to the official text.
Signing in from a connector
claude.ai and Claude Desktop sign in with OAuth: on the first call MetLex sends you to its own login, you enter the one-time password from your mail, and you allow the app once. Connected apps are listed on your account page with their last call; remove one there and it is signed out at once.
Signing in from other clients
Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and others send a key as a Bearer header. Keys are made on the account page, one per workstation, up to three; a key works from one place at a time.
region='eu' searches the EU acts; 'se' (the default) adds the Swedish rules. Library passages appear when the account has a Library plan; nothing is reinstalled.
